We celebrated the autumn equinox at the Chalice well
there was a gathering at the Well Head at 12pm for celebration and meditation until 12:30 after which there was a fire on the Lower Lawn with refreshments
Someone sang after the meditation
Deep peace of the running wave to you;
Deep peace of the flowing air to you;
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you;
Deep peace, deep peace.
Deep peace of the sleeping stones to you;
Deep peace of the wandering wind to you;
Deep peace of the flock of stars to you;
Deep peace, deep peace.
Deep peace of the Eastern wind to you;
Deep peace of the Western wind to you;
Deep peace of the Northern wind to you;
Blue wind of the South to you;
Pure red of the whirling flame to you;
Pure white of the silver moon to you;
Pure green of the emerald grass to you;
Deep peace, deep peace.
And a bard then recited a lovely poem
After that we climbed the Tor where an other celebration took place, a druid greeted all visitors and invited them to join him in a small celebration, greeting the quarters and celebrating the equinox. This celebration was filmed by German television ZDF, so somewhere some day you might see us sitting there 😉
When we arrived at our camping place at the Old Oaks, the rain came with heavy thunder! A worthy accompaniment of the event.
The Harvest Moon at the equinox was called “Super Harvest Moon” because it occurred on the first day of Autumn. This last happened in 1991.
Another memorable thing this day:
Jupiter was as close to Earth as it has been in 59 years. It was clearly visible later in the evening at the right side and a little lower of the moon
